SCHLOSSBERG
Scholossberg is the hill overlooking the town, with a superb view of the Hauptlaz and the Mur river.
This is the hill that dominates the town. Only a few vestiges remain of the powerful fortress that occupied the site until 1809, dismantled on Napoleon's orders, including the Clock Tower (Uhrturm) and the Bell Tower (Glockenturm), which have become two of the city's symbols. The glass elevator that climbs up through a column carved into the rock is impressive. From the top, superb views of the Hauptlaz and Mur rivers. A wooded park leads to the Garnisons Museum, a restaurant and the former casemates, which host concerts and festivals.
