GRAZ CASTLE (BURG)
This castle, built by Frederick III, is now the seat of Styria's government.
The castle, built by Frederick III, was partially destroyed and is now the seat of the Styrian government. The building, which houses the regional parliament, was designed by the architect Domenico dell'Allio in the 16th century in a Renaissance vein that seems to herald the Baroque era. The courtyard with its gallery of arcades is characteristic. At the end of the courtyard, the tower next to Staircase III(Stiege III) houses an architectural gem: a double spiral staircase built in 1499 under Maximilian I. There are only three of these in the world.
