ARMOURY OF THE LANDESZEUGHAUS (LANDESZEUGHAUS)
Armory for storing large quantities of armor and weapons.
Between the 15th and 18th centuries, Styria was on the front line of an almost continuous conflict between the Ottoman Empire and the rebels in Hungary. To defend itself, it needed troops and equipment. The armoury in Graz, built between 1642 and 1645, was able to store large quantities of armour and weapons. Armour, swords and masterpieces of armoury from different eras are presented in the world's largest historical arsenal: 32,000 pieces on four floors.
