The faithful venerate a miraculous wooden image of the Virgin Mary protected inside the building. The basilica houses twelve side chapels, each with its own Baroque altar. 2007 saw the renovation of the building and the visit of Pope Benedict XVI. Original Gothic porch between two bulbous towers.
