Castle in a rural setting of vineyards and orchards, home to a museum of Styrian hunting and agriculture.
The lovely village of Stainz and its castle are well worth a visit for a short excursion. The castle, in a rural setting of vineyards and orchards, dates from 1229. It was first used as a convent for the Canons Regular of St. Augustine and later as the residence of Archduke Johann. It now houses a museum of Styrian hunting and agriculture. The forest ranger gives guided tours and reveals the secrets of the forest's wildlife.
