Owner's Message
Gaspard Vynckier, a Belgian industrialist (one of the founding brothers of the Vynckier Frères & Co. factories in Belgium) and his wife Marguerite Vynckier Massart (the first female engineer to graduate from the Free University of Brussels), arrived for the first time in Cape Verde in 1963, attracted by the climate that they knew by reputation. They decided to build a second home there, which was inaugurated on May 13, 1967.
Their son, Georges Vynckier, an industrialist, designed and developed the technical installations at the beginning of the 1970s: water heating by parabolic solar collectors with mirrors, then by flat solar collectors (75m²), a wind turbine (55kw), a reverse osmosis distiller (60m³/day), an electric power plant (today the installed power is 690 KW) and a purification station (recycling of waste water). The hotel has always been able to operate in total autonomy.
Since the Independence of Cape Verde (1975), Georges' wife (French), Geneviève Vynckier Duparc, developed the residence into a hotel with 140 rooms and continues to improve the facilities.

The hotel is located on a lovely setting ,a stones throw from the clear turquoise blue sea.
Hotel staff are friendly and accommodating.
The hotel food is very good and quite varied as it has smaller restaurants attached to it one of which is on the beach itself.
It feels restful and uninhibited without bustling crowds. The town provides shops to provide essential provisions but isn't the most charming.
We have enjoyed our stay .
Beware when swimming strong under çurrent.
