This beautiful colonial building is home to the Mercado Municipal, a lively place where it is good to walk around, to feel closer to the local population. From the first floor, you have an extraordinary view of the stalls run by women, like in most markets. You will be able to buy fruits and vegetables (useful if you have to cook), cheeses, without forgetting to bargain. Most of the products come from Santo Antão, as the soil is not suitable for agriculture. There are some souvenir shops upstairs to attract visitors.
