The Tabanka Museum, which serves as a space to promote cultural life, presents the history of Assomada. It is a multidisciplinary organization that has a library, offers language courses, shows films and promotes music. Its philosophy is to save, preserve and disseminate tabanka as an ancestral Cape Verdean cultural manifestation. The museum was moved in 2010 to the locality of Chão de Tanque, in the former house of the morgado, and is in itself a significant cultural heritage on a national scale.
