It is a must-see on the heights of Independence Square, against the backdrop of the huge statue of Samora Machel. These majestic colonnades of neoclassical architecture are those of the municipal council. The building was completed in 1945 and today houses most of the municipal offices. At the time of the colonization, "Aqui e Portugal" (here you are in Portugal) was posted on the pediment. Inside the building there are old maps of the city of Maputo, unfortunately inaccessible because the building cannot be visited.

Near the Cathedral, the French cultural centre, the Tundura garden, Casa Do ferro and buildings to very interesting architecture. Much art deco.
