LABOUR MARKET
Workers' Square, praça dos Trabalhadores, looks out over the beautiful white and green façade of the Maputo train station. In the centre of the square, in a roundabout with relatively heavy traffic, you will inevitably notice the gigantic stone statue representing a woman and a snake. It was erected in memory of the Mozambican soldiers sent to the front during the First World War. According to a legend, it is said that this woman was a warrior who was admired for killing with her hands a snake that came to terrorize the people.
