DUNES DE DOVELA

The Eco Lodge "Dunes of Dovela" is located at the gates of Inhambane, near Zavora, between Maputo and Vilanculos in Mozambique.

Nestled at the end of a magnificent 12.5 km trail that crosses several Chopé villages and erected on the second ridge of dunes overlooking Manhame beach, the "Dunes of Dovela" Eco Lodge offers a truly magical and heavenly environment. The charms of the Indian Ocean on an almost deserted beach, the diversity and uniqueness of the coastal forest, the quietness of the inner lake of Dongane, the elegance of the architecture, the quality of the finishing touches, the personalized accompaniment are all ambiences that make this place an ideal and privileged place to soak up the energy released by the beauty of the Mozambican coast.
Not to be overlooked, this eco-lodge is the result of a 4 years work with strong human and ecological dimensions.
Human because the construction was carried out only with the local population, which implied a work of accompaniment and training which allows today 50 people to master a trade. This same dynamic remains at work in the operation of the lodge. The current staff comes from the surrounding villages and has been trained by the owners.
Ecological because the construction methods used preserve the environment, because the "roundness" of the construction blends naturally into the landscape, because local supplies are always favored, because the non-motorized activities offered are all environmentally friendly. The "Dunes of Dovela" is also a member and partner with its neighbors in Zavora of an association (ACCM) aiming at the creation of a protected geographical area in order to conserve and preserve this unique natural environment.

Lodging and food
There are two types of accommodation in the "Dunes of Dovela":
- Bungalows with a capacity of two places with a terrace enjoying a view of the sea. Each bungalow has a private bathroom and toilet and an outdoor shower.
- Sea view tents located in the coastal forest. Each is mounted on a wooden platform and has a capacity of two people. Toilets and showers are separate, shared and overlook the sea.

Family and small group accommodation is available.

The stay at "Dunes de Dovela" includes 3 meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner (with starters, main courses, desserts and coffee). The cuisine is of very good quality and has learned to combine the flavors of Mozambican products with French know-how.

If you have ever dreamed of walking in Africa ....
Hiking trails and viewpoints crisscross the 80 hectares of land of "Dunes of Dovela". The discovery of the fauna and flora of the place constitutes an important part of the proposed activities. This can be accompanied or carried out in complete autonomy thanks to Chopé guides, GPS, maps or games.
These paths allow access to the surrounding villages where you can meet the local population.

Also to "Dunes of Dovela":
A deserted beach and a rock bar forming a natural pool at low tide. In order to take advantage of this, the lodge provides its guests with
- Binoculars for humpback whale watching (June to October) and bird watching (all year round)
- Two kayaks for the inner lake
- Masks, snorkels and flippers to explore the rocky barrier in front of Manhame Beach
- An extensive nature library
- Lists of birds, trees,..

Diving, fishing and horseback riding are possible within a few kilometers of the "Dunes of Dovela".
