In Bitonga, Mafu means "earth". We understand its name when we discover this incredible ecologde made of superb white domes in adobe, bags of raw earth that seem to be shaped by the hands of a giant potter. Inside, delicate rooms with a beautiful bathroom and a yoga mat that we like to use on the sunny terrace, in connection with nature. The table here is vegetarian and in the same zen spirit, as are the massages, the yoga classes, the meeting with a libumba ceramic artisan..

This is truly a place where sustainability is meticulously followed. Where the community around this oasis has really been strengthened and brought up. Not to mention the breathtaking view.
Thanks Mafu Haus for this phenomenal experience.

As a family of five we absolutely loved staying at Mafu House. The attention to detail in both the decor and food they serve is so special, our boys particularly loved their pizza oven. We enjoyed the local storytelling and ceramics tour, both were new experiences. All the staff went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed but a special thanks to Rahel who even bought us some board games from home for the family to play! We truly could not recommend this unique and thoughtful place enough!

Eoin and Rahel, couldn’t have been more welcoming for our trip to tofu in 2021. They really made the extra effort to make us feel at home while the rest of the world went mad around us

I had the most amazing experience at Mafu Haus. It was really great to meet Eoin and talk about how and why he started up the project. He really is passionate about what he is doing and every little detail at Mafu which all comes together to create an incredible time. There are still things that are being done at the property but I think within the next few years it will truly be the most magical place to visit in Mozambique

Rahel prepared for us a wonderful picnic which we enjoyed in a private spot overlooking Inhambane's stunning mangrove forest followed by what was up there with the most delicious pizza we have ever had. We are both cheese obsessed, but now vegan, and could not believe how delicious the plant based alternatives Rahel created for us were!
The decor and attention to detail around the place is incredibly tasteful, only drawback is that you are going to want to rebuild your house to imitate it!
I have lived in the small town of Tofo for over 4 years so to find such a unique hidden gem so close to home is very exciting indeed!
Thank you to all the Mafu Haus team for a lovely afternoon, we can't wait to visit again.
