An authentic and discreet restaurant near the Gärtnerplatz.
Dating back to 1874, the Fraunhofer (of the eponymous street where it's located) is so discreet that you're likely to miss it. This would be a mistake, however, as it could offer you a Bavarian meal at a very acceptable price. It's true that its slightly off-center location keeps it out of the mainstream tourist circuit. Don't be surprised by the very large crowds on certain evenings, which are due to the adjacent theater where many folk groups perform. The hall can be noisy.
