MÜNCHNER PHILHARMONIKER
The famous Munich Philharmonic Orchestra plays temporarily in the Isarphilharmonie before it can return to the Gasteig.
The famous Münchener Philharmoniker, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, traditionally plays in the Gasteig in the Haidhausen district. This building was inaugurated in 1985, ending the Philharmonic's 40 years of exile. The original hall, the Tonhalle, was bombed during the last war and never rebuilt. The Gasteig is currently under construction. The Münchner Philharmoniker are therefore playing temporarily in a building called the Isarphilharmonie, a modern hall that is brilliantly acting as an interim venue south of the city centre.
