ÉGLISE DES THÉATINS
An emblematic church of Munich, which gives it a little Italian air. Several Bavarian sovereigns are buried in its crypt.
This magnificent Baroque church has been soaking up the sun on its orange-yellow façade since the 17th century. It was built between 1663 and 1688 by Italian architect Agostino Barelli, and completed 100 years later by Cuvilliés le Jeune. Its sumptuous 71 m-high dome and two towers are two of the building's highlights. The interior - all in white - is just as splendid as the façade. More than forty sovereigns of the Wittelsbach dynasty, including Prince-Regent Leopold, are buried in the tomb.
