KARLSTOR
The Karlstor is one of three gates inherited from the old Munich fortifications.
The Karlstor lies to the west of Neuhauser Straße and, like the Sendlinger Tor and Isartor, is an architectural monument to the 14th century, built during the second phase of the city's fortifications. Until 1972, when the pedestrian zone was created, the Karlstor was used to cross the city from west to east. A closer look reveals gargoyles representing the city's famous inhabitants. Three small statues represent the three child musicians of the Pisces Fountain.
