GLOCKENBACHVIERTEL
The Glockenbachiertel is Munich's gay district: many places of LGBT sociability and a nice area to discover.
This is where Freddie Mercury lived in 1982 when he launched his solo career and came to Munich to record his first single Love Kills released in 1984. Today, this gay neighbourhood between Gärtnerplatz and Baldeplatz has become slightly gentrified. Such a location was too attractive for speculation: pubs and crazy bars have given way to art galleries and chic restaurants. But you can still find plenty of LGBTQ addresses here today: bars of course, but also shops and restaurants.
