A museum on the violin and its manufacture in a city known for its baroque violin making.
A violin museum to discover the making of this instrument. Matthias Klotz (1653-1743), a master violin maker, made Mittenwald an important centre of their production. The instrument collection focuses on Mittenwald's baroque violin making. Hearing tests (headphones to hear the sounds of the different instruments), historical films on the subject of violin making, the historical demonstration workshop and special exhibitions enhance the visit.

This museum is worth traveling because it exhibits a rich collection of tools, instruments and documents. The sonorities of the various instruments will be appreciated with helmets. Presentation films (in German or English) complete the French language card (ask for reception). The tradition of building instruments continues through a renowned school.
