BASILIKA ST. ANNA
A luminous neo-Baroque basilica with an all-white vault that can accommodate almost a thousand worshippers.
Built in 1910 to accommodate the surplus of pilgrims that the main church of Altötting could no longer accommodate, this basilica of St. Anne can house nearly a thousand faithful. The neo-baroque basilica was designed by the architect Johannes Schott and consecrated by Pope Pius X. In 1913, the same pope elevated it to the rank of papal basilica. The exterior and interior of the church are particularly impressive in their size. The nave is very bright because of the white vault. The altar depicts St. Anne with her daughter Mary.
