HAUS PAPST BENEDIKT XVI
House retracing the history of pilgrimages through its two institutions: the Treasure Room and the Pilgrimage Museum.
Named after the former Pope of the Catholic Church, the House of Benedict XVI traces the history of pilgrimages. Two institutions are located here: the Treasure Room (Neue Schatzkammer) and the Pilgrimage Museum (Wallfahrtsmuseum). Here you can discover the oldest chapel in Germany, which dates back to 700 AD and has survived the various setbacks of the past, where the first Duke of Bavaria is said to have been baptized. You will also learn about the significance of the golden rose, a centuries-old tradition with direct roots in the Middle Ages.
