SAINT-EMMERAN BASILICA
A truly fascinating basilica, baroque in design by the Asam brothers in the 18th century.
This former Benedictine abbey dates back to the 10th century, although its present appearance owes much to the baroque redesign work of the Asam brothers, builders of many iconic late baroque buildings throughout Bavaria. Inside you will find everything that is curious about a church: the reliquary of a little-known saint, portraits of bishops who have fallen into oblivion and, above all, some very strange glass sarcophagi in which cloth saints lie dressed in golden robes and set with precious stones. Fascinating!
