This museum presents the history of Regensburg through its political influence. The Diet of the Empire (the Holy Roman Empire's institution responsible for general affairs) met for many years in Regensburg, and this is what this museum seeks to remind us of. The highlight of the visit: the torture room (Folterkammer) with a real panoply of objects that are all colder in the back than the others, including a chair covered with spikes on which the prisoners were sitting. The most beautiful part of the museum is the Imperial Hall in Gothic style. This is where the perpetual Diet met.
