BURG TRAUSNITZ
A beautiful castle on the heights of Landshut. For three centuries it was the residence of the dukes of Lower Bavaria.
This Trausnitz castle- on the heights of Landshut - was built in 1204. However, the residence of the Wittelsbachs was not fully completed until the 15th century. From 1255 to 1503, the castle served as the residence of the dukes of Lower Bavaria. The arcades only appeared later. The Georgskapelle, the Narrentreppe or Jester's Staircase with its superb frescoes, inherited from the Italian style and commedia dell'arte, and the Hofgarten, the castle garden, are among the sights to be seen.
