The Nuremberg Christmas Market (known as the Nürnberger Christkindlmarkt in Germany) is the Christmas market of all superlatives. With more than 2 million visitors every year, it is one of the largest in Germany and also one of the oldest, dating back to the 17th century! Every two years, a young girl from the city is chosen to be the "Christkindl" and opens the Christmas market from the balcony of the Frauenkirche.
