The Nuremberg Bard Meeting is a three-day music festival with free concerts of various styles.
Founded in 1976 as a small song contest to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of the cobbler and poet Hans Sachs (whom you may know from Wagner's opera The Master Singers of Nuremberg), the festival now attracts over 200,000 visitors of all ages. In addition to the 90 concerts on 9 stages, hundreds of street musicians transform the old town of Nuremberg into a large hall for music of all kinds.
