TIERGARTEN NÜRNBERG
Germany's second largest zoological park: 70 hectares, 2,500 individuals of 300 different species and 1 million visitors per year.
The history of this zoo is tumultuous... Founded in 1912, it moved to this location in 1939. Destroyed by bombing in 1943, it was completely rebuilt in the summer of 1945. Today, it is the second largest landscape zoo in Germany, with 70 hectares, 300 species, some 2,500 individuals, and more than one million visitors per year. The zoo specializes in marine mammals, including dolphins, sea-calves, polar bears and sea lions, as well as kangaroos, giraffes, bison, zebras, lemurs, lynx and gorillas.
