LORENZKIRCHE (ST. LAWRENCE CHURCH)
The Lorenzkirche in Nuremberg is a fascinating Gothic church with many medieval treasures.
This monumental Gothic church is the largest in the city. Built between 1250 and 1477, and Lutheran since 1525, it is famous for its richly carved west portal, its beautiful 14th-century rose window, its magnificent tabernacle by Adam Kraft, and its Salute of the Angel by Veit Stoss. St. Lawrence Church was severely damaged during the Second World War, but most of its treasures were saved from the bombing by being taken away and kept elsewhere.
