Eichstätt Cathedral is famous for its stained glass windows by Hans Holbein and for its Pappenheim altar dating from the late 15th century. Eichstätt Cathedral has a variety of architectural styles ranging from Romanesque to Baroque. Most of the cathedral dates back to the 11th century, but the western facade was redesigned in the Baroque style in the 18th century. The gallery retains a medieval appearance with beautiful pointed arch openings. The statue represents St Willibald, the first bishop of the city.
