NEUMÜNSTER COLLEGIATE CHURCH
Baroque church featuring a lantern cupola, Kilian busts, a small garden and a medieval troubadour.
This baroque church, with a superb lantern dome (which you can't see when you stand at the foot of the façade), was built on the legendary site of the martyrdom of the three Irish missionaries Kilian, Totnan and Kolonat, who were beheaded in 689 for having wanted to evangelize Franconia... At the foot of the altar, there are busts of Kilian, represented as a bishop, and of his two acolytes. The exit leads straight to the charming Lusamgärtchen, a small garden in which Walther von der Vogelweide, a medieval troubadour, was buried.
