SCHLOSS VEITSHÖCHHEIM
A baroque castle, built for the pleasure of the prince-bishop of Würzburg, with a beautiful garden.
The small town of Veitshöchheim, about ten kilometers from Würzburg, is famous for its castle, built in the 17th century as the summer residence of the Prince-Bishop of Würzburg. After the dissolution of the Grand Duchy of Würzburg and its incorporation into Bavaria in 1814, the castle became the property of the Wittelsbachs. Do not miss the rococo garden, which was not designed by Italian artists but by German architects, in particular Ferdinand Tietz (1708-1777), the best garden designer of his time.
