An imposing university with five faculties, over 40,0000 students and 640 professors.
The pride of the city, the university is an imposing and massive building with a rather singular history. Originally, it was the baroque castle of the margraves, built between 1700 and 1704. A fire destroyed it and it was rebuilt between 1821 and 1825 to house the university. What better place to study and teach! Today, the university has more than 40,000 students, 640 professors and five faculties.
