BASILIKA GÖSSWEINSTEIN
The baroque Gössweinstein Basilica attracts thousands of pilgrims every year.
The Gößweinstein Basilica attracts thousands of pilgrims every year. It was built between 1730 and 1739 according to the plans of the architect Balthasar Neumann, who did not give his name to the street for nothing: he is one of the masters of the baroque and rococo style in Southern Germany. He was one of the masters of baroque and rococo in southern Germany, and was responsible for the sumptuous Residenz in Würzburg. The Gößweinstein Basilica is particularly beautiful when the light of the setting sun is reflected on its sand-coloured stone. Very nice view of the basilica from the Kreuzberg.
