LIBAUDE
Lake Togo is the main body of water in a lagoon system located in the maritime region of Togo. It lies on the coast, facing the Gulf of Guinea, 15 km east of the capital Lomé and 10 km west of Vogan. Lake Togo is mainly freshwater, and is located behind a dune barrier that stretches along the 75 km Togolese coastline. It forms a lagoon ecosystem with Lake Vogan and the lagoons behind the coastal dunes. The surface area of Lake Togo is around 46 km2, with a maximum length of around 15 km and a maximum width of around 6 km. It stretches south to within a kilometer of the sea, where it meets the dune barrier, then turns east and stretches for 13 km into a narrow lagoon. Lake Togo is surrounded by several villages, including Togoville, Badougbe, Sewati, Goun Kope, Kwenou, Ekpoui, Adjido, Seva-Tonou, Dekpo, Abobo, Amedehoeve, Agomekpota and Kpessi.
