Historical festival of the Ewe. It is the biggest traditional festival of the Ewe people. It marks the commemoration of the exodus of this people in the 17th century. This ceremony also celebrates the beginning of the new Ewe year and allows the people to return to their ancestral values. Many traditional dances are performed for the occasion. The first harvest of yams in its crushed form (fufu) is also tasted. To guarantee the protection of the gods and spirits throughout the year, offerings are made to them.
