This is the initiation festival for boys in Kabyé country: the young Evalou show their strength during the numerous wrestling matches.

Initiation festival for boys in Kabyé country. The évala are traditional festivals during which the famous Kabyé duel fights take place. It is an opportunity for the young évalou to show their power. They usually take place in mid-July for a week in the Kara region. It is the most important summer event in the country. In addition to the wrestling matches, concerts, theatrical evenings and traditional storytelling are scheduled. It is in Pya, in the president's canton, that the wrestling is most prestigious.
