Once reserved for the personal hunting of Gnassingbé Eyadema, the Sarakawa reserve has been reopened to the public since 2009. Zebra, eland, hartebeest, wildebeest and other species roam freely over 843 ha. The game drive can be exciting, but many visitors have returned disappointed. It's best to get there early in the morning. The other park, Djamdè, covers 1,500 ha and offers the chance to interact with elephants in semi-liberty and to observe lions in a vast enclosure.
