AL BAHLWAN
Located on the street leading to the east of the great mosque, at the bottom of a gallery, this boutique caters for men and women looking for scarves. Men can acquire the traditional shawls worn by the inhabitants of the highlands on their shoulders or sometimes implanted in turbans. Their united colour is enriched with motifs motifs often woven by hand; the material is wool but some are made of crude cashmere. The ladies can go into a back shop where the wool scarves are exposed. None of them is manufactured in Yemen, but are orders made by the country to artisans or manufactures based in Asia, India most often.
