This festival of lights takes place during 3 days at the Vat That Luang of Vientiane, national symbol, at full moon.
Also known as the Festival of Lights, this festival takes place over 3 days at the Vat That Luang in Vientiane, a national symbol, on the 15th day of the 12th lunar month of the Lao calendar, i.e. for the full moon. Monks from all over the country gather to receive offerings. Magnificent colourful processions departing from Vat Simuang and involving different Lao ethnic groups. Parallel to the religious ceremonies is organized a large trade fair on That Luang square, which attracts thousands of people in the evening.
