NamKhan Ecolodge is a natural eco-resort, respectful of its environment and its local community. A green sanctuary along the Namkhan River located in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage city, where travelers can reconnect with nature, discover traditional Laotian culture and immerse themselves in tropical food, forest and ecological agriculture. The eco-resort allows you to discover our organic farm, explore our tropical gardens, let yourself be enchanted by our animals at our stables, go jogging or trekking on our marked trails, relax on our island or in the outdoor pool, learn yoga, chi kung or meditation. Dive into an enchanting ecolodge with a wide range of sports and adventure offers related to nature. The ecolodge is concerned about its impact on the environment and everything has been put in place to promote green and ecological tourism (supplies made directly at our carpentry workshop, farm-to-table restaurant, 0 chemicals, etc). Take advantage of the Laotian countryside and to stay in an enchanting and peaceful setting. We offer accommodations adapted to the pleasure of each one that goes from the tent with common bathroom through bungalows to the independent and fully equipped villa; with rates ranging from 49 to 190 us dollars per night including breakfast and tourist taxes.

However, there were two things that lead to me dropping stars.
Firstly, there are dogs on the lodge which in itself should be a positive. But one dog who hangs around the restaurant area seemed incredibly uncomfortable and even bit my friend at one point. And there was another dog who violently growled at me when I was checking out. I own a customer-facing business and have taken great effort to train my dogs so that they are approachable and friendly, and it seems unprofessional that such a place would not do the same.
Secondly, there were many hidden fees included in small things. Water which was not labeled with a price was revealed to be $1.50 per small bottle with an included “service charge” to bring it to our room which we were explicitly told is free. Whilst this price may not be a big deal to some but for those on Thai salary these hidden fees come to a considerable price to us. Whilst all the staff on site were lovely and very caring, hidden fees like this aren’t appreciated.
I would still recommend anyone to stay here but am left a sour taste by the two negatives I have stated.
