The Elephant Conservation Centre is a sanctuary dedicated to the protection of the animal emblem of Laos, located in Sayaboury, just 2 hours from Luang Prabang. The Centre hosts about thirty elephants on a forest territory of 530 hectares. The elephants live there in semi-liberty, in a natural paradise located on the banks of Lake Nam Tien. Visitors have the opportunity to discover some of the conservation projects carried out by the team of passionate specialists.

Great place. Tony was our tour guide; highly recommend him. He’s very personable and knowledgeable. The grounds are well kept and elephants are stunning of course. There’s not enough good things I can say about this place.

Nous avons passé deux jours en famille (avec un enfant de 3 ans) sur le site !
L’endroit en lui même est magnifique. La proximité avec les éléphants est génial tout en respectant toutes les valeurs éthiques d’un lieu où les visiteurs ne font qu observer les éléphants sans contact physique avec eux.
Tout les membres de l’équipe nous donnent des informations tout au long du séjour à la fois sur l’histoire de vie de certains éléphants, leurs actions de préservation, conservation, re introduction et de lutte contre pour préserver l’espèce au Laos. Ce qui m’a le plus frappé est l’implication des professionnels pour prendre soin des éléphants.
Seul bémol : pour des jeunes enfants , a fortiori non anglophone, certains moments d’explications peuvent paraître très longs .

I had an amazing experience at the ECC in Laos! The elephant habitat is exceptional, providing a wonderful environment to observe these majestic creatures. It’s nice to see people are brought to observe elephants, not elephants being brought to entertain humans. you get many information about the elephants and the center's dedication to their care is impressive. The facilities are good, food is great and offers a bit of variety. The staff at the ECC is very friendly and always open for a nice chat. The bungalows are simple but clean and offer comfortable mattresses. Also you have the opportunity to use a kayak in the free time which was a great bonus. Thank you for an unforgettable experience! 100% would go again :) probably the most meaningful money I spent on my trip through Laos!

Wonderful experience for our daughter and us. It is really good to see places where people really takes care about the animals. It is wonderful that you can meet wonderful elephants without disturbing and harming them and find out much about their life, habits and biology. Visits of guests support this place so don’t think too long and book a visit at ECC:-)
