VAT SI BOUN HEUANG
Located on a hill overlooking the Nam Houng River, this temple built in 1456 is the oldest and certainly one of the most beautiful in the city. It shelters a superb reclining Buddha, 7 meters long. The faithful come here to ask for blessings before a trip. On the site one can also admire a large golden stupa protected by four guards. The spirit of the village, the Phavet, resides in the temple. Once a year, in mid-March, the Boun Phavet festival celebrates this spirit in a procession that starts at the cemetery and ends in the river.
