The original stupa (that) was built in 1628 to mark the border between the Kingdoms of Lane Xang (now Luang Prabang) and Lane Na (Chiang Mai). But in 1966 this stupa was partially destroyed by American bombings. The new stupa that stands behind the ruins of this one was built in 2003. It can be reached by a staircase protected by brightly coloured nagas, in the village of Ban Tin That, near the village Ban Nam Ngaen. Beautiful view of the Tai-Dam village nestled below and the surrounding rice fields.
