On a hill near the town, two 16th century stupas are worth a visit. The That Foun, the more imposing of the two, is said to have been erected to cover the ashes of an Indian religious figure. It was split in the middle by Chinese looters, eager to steal precious objects. The That Chom Phet a was almost completely destroyed in 1966 during the war, but it is still worth the detour. There is a small stand of handmade textiles at the entrance.
