The 'Stone House' is believed to be one of the 121 rest houses built by King Jayavarman VII (1181-1218) along the roads that linked the Khmer Empire. The ruins of this temple, also known as Phasathin, reflect the Khmer past of the province, sharing many architectural similarities with the Vat Phou of Champassak and the temple of Phimai (in Isaan, Thailand). In April a great ceremony is held there on the day of the full moon.
