In Sisoumang, along the Mekong River, a few kilometres south of Champassak, a large white Buddha dressed in saffron-coloured cloth and decorated with brightly coloured ribbons sits peacefully between two trees and looks towards the river. This statue dates from the 18th or 19th century. On this site there are still undigested ruins (probably dating back to the time of the Champassak kingdom). There are tents with monks and several street food stalls around. The site is easily accessible by bike or scooter.
