FESTIVAL DE VAT PHOU
The festival of this World Heritage temple takes place at full moon and coincides with Makha Busa.
The festival of Vat Phou takes place each year, the 15th day of the increasing moon of the3rd month (in January or February) of the lunar calendar, and coincides with the Buddhist festival of Makha Busa. On this occasion, there are processions, liturgical songs, prayers, dance performances, dugout races, games, petanque competitions, buffalo and cock fights, and evening concerts. The last day takes place on the night of the full moon on the site: the faithful and the locals come from very far to attend the ceremony.
