MUANG SAEN
From Muang Saen boats serve the islets west of Don Khong and Pakse. It is a lively and pleasant town, easily accessible by bicycle by road. Here you can eat on the river bank - a gargote on stilts or a floating restaurant of your choice - while enjoying the surrounding scenery: the coming and going of the boats, the green landscape, the unloading of the canoes, the swimming of the children. It is possible to spend the night in this village, although most tourists stay in Muang Khong. The main attraction is Wat Phu Khao Kaew, 6 km from the village.
