At the corner of Freedom Way and Chiparamba Street, the Old Freedom House is a historical place, one of the only ones in the city now immersed in modernity. These blue walls, which now house fast food outlets, were, in the 1960s, the meeting place for independence activists. Another old building, the Njanji CommuterBuilding, located in front of the railway station. Built in 1906, it housed the first station hall. It retains an old-fashioned colonial charm, with its white veranda and green roof.
