VILLAGE COMMUNAUTAIRE NAKAPALAYO
To allow visitors to spend the night in the village of Nakapalayo of the Bisa ethnic group, the inhabitants have built 6 traditional chalets with dried mud walls and straw roofs for tourists. The interior is comfortable, with small beds equipped with a mosquito net and a palm mat. Those who wish can pitch their tent. It is possible to come only for lunch or for the day (lunch and activities).
The tour of the village accompanied by a local guide allows you to observe the different daily activities, such as drawing water, pounding cassava or digging the fields. We can then meet the Chiunda Ponde chief to learn the rules of the chieftaincy system, visit the school, the health center, see a traditional healer or go into the bush to recognize plants. In the evening, tasting of typical dishes and local beer, dances and stories are on the program, by the fire. Cornmeal dishes are served with village chicken or Chikanda, a wild orchid specialty. The evening comes alive when girls, boys and women dance to local Kalindula and Boostele music, accompanied by drums and a local banjo-like guitar. Certain rules of decorum must be observed, including sobriety in dress or restraint and decency in behavior of couples. All donations should be made to the village office and not individually.
