KABAR AYE PAGODA
The greatest monarchs have a pagoda. U Nu didn't want to break the rule and built his own. The construction of Kabar Aye, which means "world peace", was part of the preparations for the 6th Buddhist Synod held in 1954. This pagoda is not an aesthetic masterpiece, but it is distinguished by its hollow dome and its sacred sculptures and statues. Furthermore, although it cannot boast the presence of even the slightest hair of Buddha, it houses the relics of Mogallana and Sariputta, two of Buddha's faithful disciples.
